about the author

Terry Shigemitsu spent the last twenty-eight years in the feature film and animation industry, contributing to visual effects and animation productions for major studios including Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios. Early in his career he worked on the first three seasons of Futurama, the animated series created by Matt Groening, and later served as a CG supervisor collaborating with visual effects pioneer Richard Edlund.

A lifetime spent building cinematic worlds shaped his approach to fiction. His writing favors restraint and atmosphere, allowing readers to inhabit the emotional spaces between events rather than spelling out every moment on the page.

He is the creator of the AshVeyn series, an epic gaslamp fantasy where dragons rise against airships and the cost of power is measured not in victory, but in what people refuse to surrender.

He holds a degree in Design from the University of California, Los Angeles and a degree in Industrial Design from ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena.
